【题   目】Ancilla-free scheme of deterministic topological quantum gates for Majorana qubits


【摘  要】The realization of quantum gates in topological quantum computation still confronts significant challenges in both fundamental and practical aspects. In this talk, I will show a deterministic and fully topologically protected measurement-based scheme to realize the issue of implementing Clifford quantum gates on the Majorana qubits. I first compare the difference between non-topological quantum computing and topological quantum computing. Then I will briefly introduce the previous studies on measurement-based Majorana braiding proposals with ancillary Majorana zero modes (MZMs). Then I will give a rigorous proof that the need for ancillary MZMs can be eliminated in topological quantum computing. Benefiting from the ancilla-free construction, we identify the the minimum measurement sequences to achieve two-qubit Clifford gates. To avoid the uncertainty of the measurement-only strategy, we propose manipulating the MZMs in their parameter space to correct the undesired measurement outcomes while maintaining complete topological protection, as demonstrated in a concrete Majorana platform. Our scheme identifies the minimal operations of measurement-based topological and deterministic.


【报告人简介】Prof. Xin Liu got his B.S. degree from Nankai University and M.S. degree from Chern Institute of Mathematics, Tianjin. He received his Ph. D. from Texas A&M University in 2012. After graduation, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Pennsylvania State University from 2012 to 2014 and Condensed Matter Theory Center at the University of Maryland from 2014-2015. He joined Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2015.
